Gasoline vapor is one of the “volatile organic compounds” (VOCs) that are harmful to human health, and international measures are being taken to reduce VOC emissions. In Japan, the revised Air Pollution Act has been in effect since 2006, and emission regulations have been implemented for VOCs, while Korea has designated Yeocheon, Ulsan, and other special measures areas and metropolitan areas as air quality control areas since 1999, and mandated the installation of oil vapor recovery devices at 2,896 gas stations to prevent air pollution. This mandate is a system that only collects the generated oil vapor and returns it to the low oil tank, which only increases the amount of oil vapor, but does not consider the aspect of using it as effective energy, and overlooks the fact that high oil vapor pressure is a big problem of explosion.
